Posted: December 8, 2014Kingston, NY – County Executive Mike Hein, with the support of local government officials and local business and community leaders, announced today a new proposal that would accommodate both tourism railroad operations and recreational trail development in the City of Kingston. The plan would include an additional section of the County-owned Ulster and Delaware (“U&D”) Railroad corridor in Kingston in a future request for proposal (“RFP”) for tourism railroad operations.

Posted: December 4, 2014The Proposed Closing Would Adversely Affect Delivery Of All Classes Of Mail As Well As Over 350 Current Employees Kingston, NY — Today, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein filed a resolution with the Ulster County Legislature which urges Congressional intervention into the proposed closure of the United States Postal Service’s Mid-Hudson Processing and Distribution Center. The facility employs over 350 individuals and is estimated to generate $33.5 million in labor income and $4.5 million in business income to the Mid-Hudson region.

The grant, which will be directed to the Town of Lloyd, was awarded by Scenic Hudson at the request of County Executive Hein in support of the County Executive’s vision for an interconnected rail trail network connecting the Walkway Over the Hudson to the Ashokan Reservoir and Catskill Park.
